Local wine packaging company carries the torch for Special Olympics

– On Sunday, July 12, Mario Guerra, of Paso Robles and Michal Szczygiel of Newcastle, UK, of California Capsules carried the Flame of Hope for the Special Olympics on the final day of its journey In Los Angeles.

“To be a part of something this significant is really special. I am honored that we were able to take part,” said team captain Guerra. Guerra is the general manager of California Capsules, located on Dry Creek Road in Paso Robles. The company is a supplier of products that include: screw caps, tin capsules, Alusoft capsules, wire hoods, and sparkling wine foils.

This July, Special Olympics will hold its flagship event, the World Summer Games. Beginning on July 25, 7,000 athletes and 3,000 coaches representing 177 countries, along with 30,000 volunteers and an anticipated 500,000 spectators, will come together in Los Angeles for competition in 25 Olympic-style sports.
