savor discountsThere are just a few weeks left for San Luis Obispo County residents to take advantage of special “locals only” discounts to experience Sunset Savor the Central Coast. Presented by Sunset magazine and Visit San Luis Obispo County, Sunset Savor the Central Coast is one of the nation’s premier wine and food events, offering four days of culinary immersion — Sept. 26-29, 2013. This year’s theme “Time to Play” will be brought to life through a variety of events across San Luis Obispo County.

Between now and Saturday, August 31, locals may save 15% on Main Event tickets or $10 off the inaugural Savor Run. Purchase a one-day ticket for $72.25 (normally $85) or a weekend pass for $127.50 (normally $150) to attend the Main Event, which takes place at the historic Santa Margarita Ranch September 28 – 29, 2013.

The Savor Run, happening in downtown San Luis Obispo, takes place beginning at 7am Sunday, September 29 and includes a 5K,10K and Fastest Mile Challenge, which are all $10 off through August 31. Tickets can be purchased online at www.savorcentralcoast.com. Enter the code “LOCAL” at check-out to receive your discount. Locals will also want to check out the special evening events and culinary adventure tours taking place prior to and during the weekend.

Timed to coincide with California Wine Month, Sunset Savor the Central Coast features more than 30 local chefs, 80 wineries and a variety of opportunities to learn the latest trends in food, wine, travel and adventure from the experts at Sunset magazine.

“Savor brings together the unique qualities and lifestyle we as locals appreciate about San Luis Obispo County, while giving visitors even more reasons to explore the county during and beyond the event weekend,” said Stacie Jacob, Executive Director of Visit San Luis Obispo County. “Join us at the Main Event where we come together with our Central Coast wine, food and tourism partners along with an outstanding celebrity chef line-up.”

It’s not too late to add a seminar from the esteemed line-up in Chef Central or Winemaker Central to your Main Event experience. Meet Sunset experts as well as culinary superstars, including Michael Voltaggio, chef and owner of Los Angeles’ ink. and inc.sack, Nathan Lyon, author, chef and host of Good Food America, Sandra Lee, Emmy award-winning television star and Marcela Valladolid, cookbook author and host of Food Network’s Mexican Made Easy.
