Folk/pop duo The Lovebirds playing Paso May 29

LovebirdsFolk/pop duo The Lovebirds are set to play May 29 Paso Robles Brewing Company on Pine Street in Paso Robles.

Falling somewhere on the female duo scale between The Indigo Girls and Tegan and Sara, The Lovebirds utilize “unique chord structures, beautiful harmonies that fit like spoons, and soulful, quirky lyrics, writes the San Diego Troubadour. The Lovebirds consists of award-winning songwriters Lindsay White and Veronica May. Their new album, Breakup Shmakeup, chronicles the experience of ending their romantic partnership in order to preserve their musical partnership.

On the release of their third album, The Lovebirds tell us, “Breakup Shmakeup is a special album because it covers the broad range of emotions most of us feel during and after a breakup in a really dynamic but cohesive way. You can really get a sense of how we processed the experience and communicated with each other musically in order to grieve a loss and celebrate a re-birth of our relationship as bandmates. Even though the subject matter we’re dealing with on this album involves a lot of tension and adversity, there are little seeds of hope and love and acceptance planted throughout each track. That is what our music and our message has always been about, so we’re glad to be able to stay true to that on this record.”

The Lovebirds’ live show is quirky and engaging: a tornado of sights and sounds that, at any point, may include short skirts, high heels, bowties, mustaches, percussive guitar, rock ukulele, glockenspiel, melodica, kazoos, stand-up drum kits, and harmonies that won’t quit. The Lovebirds have shared the stage with many notable musicians, including Steve Poltz, Tristan Prettyman, Bushwalla, The Lumineers, Jack Tempchin, John C. Reilly, Glen Phillips, Sara Watkins, Susanna Hoffs, Berkley Hart, Raining Jane, Jason Mraz, and more.
