Mid-State Fair extends home wine competition deadline

–The California Mid-State Fair is currently accepting entries for the annual Home Winemaking competition that will be held in May. Registration for the competition has been extended to Friday, April 22. Information can be found online at www.midstatefair.com and all exhibitors are encouraged to enter online at msfw.fairmanager.com.

“We are excited to have new award sponsors for the 2016 event,” noted Mike Jones, home winemaking coordinator. “The goal of the competition is not only to showcase the work of our home winemakers, but offer an educational component to our exhibitors. New this year we will be a seminar after the competition open to all that enter for a recap of the results and scoresheets” New award sponsors include, Baker Wine & Grape Analysis, and ETS Laboratories.

Vintner’s Vault have joined in donating prizes for the best of red, white, dessert and the coveted best of show awards.

Best in Show Award:
– $500 Certificate from ETS Laboratories
– $105 Full wine lab panel from Baker Wine Grape Analysis plus lunch w/ the Baker team
– $50 Certificate from Vintners Vault

Best in Class Red Award:
– $250 Certificate from ETS Laboratories
– $105 Wine panel from Baker Wine Grape Analysis

Best in Class White Award:
– $105 Wine panel from Baker Wine Grape Analysis

Best in Class Dessert Award:
– $105 Wine panel from Baker Wine Grape Analysis

  • Registration – Friday, April 22
  • Wines received – Monday, April 25 through Friday, April 29 at the Paso Robles Event Center
  • Judging (Closed Judging): Saturday, May 14
  • Exhibitor reception: 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Informational 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. – (All exhibitors are welcome to attend and ask the judges questions and gain more knowledge on the craft.)
  • Awards presentation – during mingling time
  • Social Time – Following Informational till 7 p.m. (There will be light hors d’oeuvres).
