Mid-State fair home wine competition winners announced 

Winners selected from 154 entries CA-Mid-State-Fair-logo

–On May 15, 2016 the California Mid-State Fair hosted the Home Wine Competition. Central Coast home winemakers were represented by 154 total entries.

“We received awesome feedback during the seminar and awards presentation. It was great to hear how much the exhibitors appreciated those additions. There was a record 36 gold medals awarded this year and overall, the quality of the wines submitted was far superior this year than any other,” said Home Winemaking Coordinator Mike Jones.

Best of Show and Best Sparkling:
Chuck Strickland (Templeton) Pinot Noir

Best of Dessert Wine:
Richard Prokop (Atascadero) Cabernet Port

Best of Pink Wine:
Steven Baker (Paso Robles) Grenacha

Best of Red Wine:
Michael Cullinan (Hollister) Petite Sirah

During the fair, attendees can stop at Estrella Hall to see the winning entries and vote for their favorite label.

The 2016 California Mid-State Fair runs July 20, 2016, through July 31, 2016. This year’s theme is “The Adventure Continues”
