The Templeton Historical Museum Society is in the process of rebuilding Templeton’s oldest factory built school bus.

“It was built on a Ford chassis that was shipped to the Union City Bus Company to be finished as a school bus,” said Robert Tullock who acquired the bus around 1997.

In a project landmark, the group mounted an original 21 Stud Ford Flathead engine and tested it today (Thurs, Dec 4).

“This is the first time an engine has run in the bus since its last appearance in the Templeton 4th of July Parade in 1985,” continued Tullock who had stored the bus for many years in the old black smith’s shop on Main Street.

He went on to share that the Museum decided to refurbish the bus about a year ago – shortly after it acquired the black smith’s shop as part of the Museum’s building inventory.

“I told them that the bus went with the shop,” said a chuckling Tullock who is thrilled to see the project take shape.
