New music and event center opens on Park Street

Cantinas on Park

The Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce staff and ambassadors, dignitaries and Cantinas Foundation staff members including: event manager Eric Wright (holding scissors), Chief Operating Officer Karen Waldron and marketing specialist Michelle Wright at the open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony for Cantinas on Park.

The Cantinas Foundation held an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday for Cantinas On Park on, a new live music and private event venue located at 1242 Park Street in downtown Paso Robles. It’s downstairs from Fish Gaucho on the corner of Park and 13th, once the home of the Boars Hole.

The open house showcased the venue’s unique offerings by providing: live acoustic music by Ben Del Giorgio; coffee served by Spearhead Coffee; baked goods by Delightful Desserts; and a raffle contest with prizes including gift cards to both local businesses.

The Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with dignitaries in attendance including City Councilmen Steven Martin and Fred Strong, and the city’s tourism coordinator Shonna Howenstine.

The eclectically designed event space features unique, shabby-chic décor and can accommodate up to 70 people for intimate, custom gatherings. For the convenience of event planners, the space is outfitted with its own stage, state of the art sound system and lighting, bar area, elevator and stair access, and works with some of the area’s best caterers and vendors to arrange customized dining and entertainment options for private events. In addition to private event rental, Cantinas On Park will be open for music nights on select evenings, featuring coffee and dessert along with music from the finest local singer/songwriters.

Wendy Hughes, founder of the Cantinas Foundation and a local philanthropist, says she envisions the Cantinas On Park space being used for a wide range of events, from birthday parties and wedding rehearsal dinners to corporate luncheons.

“It has been very rewarding to apply our background in the arts and large-scale event-planning to creating Cantinas on Park,” Hughes says. “With so much happening in the heart of Downtown Paso Robles, we see the new venue space becoming a central meeting place where the community can come together to celebrate and make lasting memories.”

Cantinas On Park is now available for booking by private parties and event planners. For more information about catering and private events, visit www.cantinasonpark.com, or call (805) 239-7621.

The Cantinas Foundation is a non-profit entity founded by California natives and philanthropists B. Wayne Hughes, Jr. and Wendy Hughes to transform modern day culture through opportunities where faith and family can intersect with the arts. The foundation holds a local presence in the Paso Robles area through their Cantinas Night of Faith Events including the Cantinas Music Festival held in 2012 and 2013 as well as the official sponsorship of the MercyMe concert at the Mid-State Fair in 2014.
