Update: Nine injured in SUV rollover accident in Templeton

Update posted Feb. 21

–Additional details have been released regarding the SUV rollover collision that occurred in Templeton on Sunday.

Due to the ages of those involved, only one identity had been released by California Highway Patrol, the 18-year-old passenger Jordan Nybakke. The others involved range in age from 15-17.

The collision occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m., on El Pomar Drive east of Moss Lane. A 17-year-old male juvenile was driving a 1999 Toyota 4Runner eastbound with Nybakke, sitting in the right front seat of the 4Runner. Both the driver and the right front passenger were wearing their seat belts. In the back of the 4Runner were seven other juvenile males, who were not wearing seat belts, according to CHP.

As the driver traveled eastbound on El Pomar Drive at an unknown speed, for reasons that are still under investigation, the driver lost control of the Toyota and the 4Runner overturned. The unrestrained juveniles that were riding in the rear area of the Toyota were ejected from the vehicle. The juveniles injuries varied from minor to major. All of the occupants were transported to local hospitals by ground ambulances. Drugs and or alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in this collision.
