Original story: On Monday at about 4:45 a.m., Atascadero Police officers were dispatched to the 5700 block of Santa Cruz Road regarding a missing juvenile. Officers arrived and determined that Jeremiah Austin Valdez, 13, left his residence without permission. Valdez has not returned nor has anyone heard from him.

Valdez is considered “at risk” due to his age and the fact that he takes medication for depression. It is not believed Valdez is suicidal. Follow up investigation has not led to the location of Valdez but it is believed he is possibly en route to the Hanford California area where his mother lives. Valdez has been unhappy with his current living environment.

Valdez is described as a Hispanic male juvenile with short brown hair and brown eyes. He is 5’5” and weighs 105 lbs. He was last seen wearing a black shirt with “racing numbers” on it, blue jeans, and black shoes.

The police department is preparing flyers to distribute to local businesses with the above described information. The Atascadero Police Department is requesting anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Jeremiah Valdez please contact the department at (805) 461-5051.
