Open house set for adult independent skills program
The Paso Robles Joint Unified School District is welcoming the community to an open house celebrating the new location for the district’s Adult Independent Skills Program. The event is March 16 from 5–7 p.m. at the NCI Affiliates, Inc. located at 496 Linne Road in Paso Robles.
The Adult Independent Skills Program currently has 13 students ranging in age from 18-22. The students and staff moved to their new location on Feb. 1 thanks to an allocation in the district’s Capital Investment Plan that was approved by the school board in October.
The purpose of the program is to teach adult students independent living skills. The students spend time learning how to cook, clean, and take care of their personal spaces. Students also learn vocational and social skills, work in community jobs, and utilize public transportation.
