–Two Paso Robles chefs will square off against Central Coast culinary artists in a “Chopped” style competition at the local Inspired Home, Garden & Gourmet Expo Saturday, Feb. 25.
The public is invited to taste and judge the Taste Buds Best Chef Competition, which is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. at the Paso Robles Event Center. Admission to the Inspired Home, Garden & Gourmet Expo is free. Doors open for the Expo at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Chef Chris Beckett of Fish Gaucho and Chef Nicola Allegretta of Mistura will be judged by a professional panel of judges on a variety of factors, as well as by the public, who will vote on the people’s choice award.
The chefs face competition from Chef Sarah Paddock of Chipwrecked in Pismo Beach, Chef Casey Walcot of Sea Venture in Pismo Beach, Chef Steve Smeets of Apple Farm Inn in San Luis Obispo and Chef Kristina Duffy of Inn at Morro Bay in Morro Bay.
The annual spring event features more than 100 home improvement, landscape, interior design, and gourmet professionals from throughout the Central Coast. Homeowners can learn about new trends, products, and services they can use to improve their homes and their home dining experience.
Visitors can enjoy wine tasting for $5 with proceeds benefiting The Wellness Kitchen. Gourmet cooking demonstrations, in addition to the chef competition, will help inspire home cooks with new recipes, ingredients, and techniques.
Additionally, attendees can enter to win a Santa Maria-style BBQ from JD Fabrications.
During the competition, the chefs will use ingredients supplied by Talley Farms. The recipes for each chef will be published in Inspired Health Magazine in March.
