Paso Robles Food Co-op launches ‘Local Bites’ event series

Member and ownership drive in full swingPaso food co-op

– The Paso Food Co-op is introducing a new event series. “Local Bites” is a “foodie pop-up gathering” designed to recruit new member-owners to the Paso Robles Food Cooperative while simultaneously promoting local businesses.

The event provides a fun, community gathering for existing members to reconnect and for potential new members to find out what the co-op is about. Hosted by local businesses, the event celebrates healthy eating and lifestyle plus the fine fare available on the Central Coast.

Join the Paso Food Co-op for the next event in their Local Bites series, “A Taste of Art” at Studios on the Park at 1130 Pine St, Paso Robles, 4-5 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 26 for food-related art and tasty samples from local food producers. During the event, learn from local producers (including a local farmer from Heart of Paso Produce, a spice purveyor from Spice of Life, a beekeeper from the CA Bee Co. and a baker from the Paleolicious Bread Company) while munching on their fare. Also hear from the Paso Food Co-op about their vision of a community-owned startup grocery store with a mission to support local producers and provide healthy, low-cost food choices in the North County.

On Jan. 24, 2016, Paso Robles Food Co-op (PRFC) hosted their first ‘Local Bites’ event with the ‘Spice of Life’ store located at 1306 13th in Paso Robles. Lori DiCiaccio-Foster, the owner, provided her store space and greeted guest with salad and hot tea, sampling her zesty products. Over 30 guests attended the event representing existing members and those curious about joining.

With over 60 paid memberships, PRFC is well on its way to becoming a brick and mortar store and expects to raise the full 500 members necessary to start up within the next one to two years.
