Paso Robles Harvest Marathon October 26

Volunteers needed, proceeds benefit Paso Robles High School student athletes

Paso Robles High School Athletic Director Tom Harrington is looking for volunteers for the 5th Annual Paso Robles Harvest Marathon — and he reminds the community that there’s still time to sign up for the marathon, half marathon or 5K. The event will be held at Le Vigne Winery on Sunday, Oct. 26 and is put on by the Paso Robles Rotary and Paso Robles Bearcat Athletic Boosters, a non-profit organization supporting all student athletes at Paso High.

The 2014 Harvest Marathon takes place Oct. 26 at Le Vigne in Paso Robles. All proceeds benefit PRHS student athletes.

The event begins at 7 a.m. with the full and half marathon runners, with the 5K starting at 8 a.m. This year the 5K will be a scenic run through the vines. All runners will receive a Harvest Marathon shirt, swag bag, and free race photo. Prizes will be awarded to the top runners. This event is a certified Boston Marathon qualifier and is recognized by the California Half and Full Marathon Series.

“This year we will be serving a Bearcat Breakfast at 8 a.m. followed by a taco lunch starting at 11 a.m.,” said Harrington. “We will also have a beer and wine garden, and a live band. On race day, there will be a expo with several vendors providing giveaway, product information, and demonstrations.”

All runners near and far are welcome to participate and the public is encouraged to come out to Le Vigne to enjoy the event. The tasting room opens to the public at 10 a.m. and the beer and wine garden will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the garden area. Bring your lawn chairs and come out and enjoy the event.

“All of the proceeds benefit Paso Robles High School athletics,” said Harrington, “and it takes numerous volunteers to make this race happen.”

He cites the following needs:

  • Volunteers to work aid stations throughout the course, assist registration, and assist traffic safety teams. If  interested, contact Anthony Overton at awoverton@pasoschools.org
  • Pop-up shade structures for the finish area. Be sure to put your name on the pop-up and the cover and deliver to the PRHS Athletic Office. We will get them to the race venue and you can pick them up at PRHS on Monday 10/27. Contact Athletic Director Tom Harrington for more information at trharrington@pasoschools.org
