Bearcat Spirit Wall unveiled during Paso Robles High Homecoming week
Homecoming theme ‘Proud to be a Bearcat’ apparent in mascot wall design
The students and faculty at Paso Robles High School were joined by a large contingent of community members on Tuesday afternoon as they celebrated the unveiling of the Bearcat Spirit Wall, part of a slew of activities taking place on and off campus, located at 801 Niblick Road, during the 2013 Homecoming week.
Paso Robles Mayor Duane Picanco and members of the school board were among the crowd as PRHS Principal Randy Nelson cued his staff to unveil the latest member of the Bearcat family – the Paso High mascot, the Bearcat, transformed into a Crimson wall design approximately 10 feet tall and appearing with the words “Bearcat Country.”
The design had been mounted onto the south-facing wall on the 500 building of the school ensuring that everyone traveling on Niblick Road and onto campus will have no doubt that the Bearcat spirit is alive and well. The concept was created and donated by the Gaspar Family whose children attended PRHS.
The week’s activities are leading up to the annual Homecoming football game on Friday, Oct. 18 when the Bearcats play host to the St. Joseph Knights at War Memorial Stadium on the campus of Flamson Middle School. The Junior Varsity will kick off at 4 p.m. with the Varsity starting at 7 p.m. There will also be a halftime show, complete with music, dancing and the crowning of the 2013 Homecoming King and Queen.
The community is encouraged to join the students, staff, and alumni in the stands wearing Crimson and White to cheer on the Bearcats as they take to the field to face the defending PAC-7 Champion St. Joseph Knights.
In addition to the unveiling of the Bearcat Spirit Wall, students continue to celebrate spirit week with a variety of activities including a Homecoming pep rally and a student dance after Friday’s game.
This year’s Homecoming theme is “Proud to be a Bearcat.” Paso Robles High School has a long history of academic and athletic excellence. A statement from school staff earlier this week announced, “We would love to have the community’s support in celebrating all of the reasons we are proud to be Bearcats!”
