Paso Robles Inn Steakhouse announced recently the addition of executive chef Paul Arangorin to the culinary team. Chef Arangorin brings seven years of culinary experience to his new position and is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy Le Cordon Bleu. In 2012, Arangorin had the opportunity to compete in Sunset’s Savor the Central Coast Battle of the Bay competition – and he won.

The focus of the Battle of the Bay competition was to highlight the fresh ingredients that come from the Morro Bay area. Arangorin’s inspiration for his dish was to make a map of Morro Bay on the plate. “The judges were able to see the dish, taste the dish, smell the dish, touch the dish and for sound I recorded the crashing waves of Morro Bay the night before and played the recording while the judges enjoyed the dish,” explained Arangorin. Arangorin’s dish was victorious and he was crowned winner of the competition. “Chef Arangorin’s passion for food and innovative style will bring a new dimension to the Paso Robles Inn Steakhouse,” noted Margaret Johnson, COO of Martin Resorts.

A San Luis Obispo County local, Arangorin developed a passion for cooking at a very young age and attributes his love affair with food to his parents- avid entertainers who enlisted Paul’s help to cook food for family parties and events. Chef Arangorin then expanded his culinary experiences internationally, cooking abroad in Asia. “My experience abroad taught me appreciation for every ingredient in a dish and taught me the importance and benefits from locally sourced food,” says Arangorin.

In his new role, Arangorin will oversee all culinary functions at the Inn. He plans to showcase the flavors of each season and feature the bounty of the Paso Robles area in his unique dishes.
