Paso Robles man severely injured in collision

Brian Amgles sent to Sierra Vista after Friday crash woman crashes car

–Brian Amgles, a 46-year-old Paso Robles man, was seriously injured in a collision that happened on Friday afternoon involving two cars, according to California Highway Patrol.

On Friday afternoon, at 2:45 p.m., a white Mitsubishi pickup driven by Perry Aanerud of San Luis Obispo, with Amgles as a passenger, was traveling ahead of a white Kia Sorento, both at approximately 65 mph, near the Santa Rosa exit on Highway 101 in Atascadero. For an unknown reason, the Mitsubishi left the roadway to the right, according to CHP. As it entered the dirt shoulder, the Mitsubishi veered back to the left. It crossed both lanes of traffic, as well as the center median. The Mitsubishi collided head-on into the guardrail in the center median. It continued spinning around in a clockwise manner, the right rear colliding again with the center median guardrail.

Due to the collision and not wearing his seatbelt, Amgles was ejected from the Mitsubishi through the right front door. The passenger landed in the left lane. The Mitsubishi continued back across both lanes, colliding with the Kia Sorento. Both vehicles came to rest on the right shoulder. The Mitsubishi sustained major damage, and the Kia sustained minor damage.

The driver, Aanerud, and passenger, Amgles, were transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo. The driver sustained minor injuries. Amgles was admitted to the hospital with major injuries. The driver and passenger of the Kia did not sustain any injuries.
