Plane makes crash landing on Volpi Ysabel Road

Feb. 11, 2013–San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department confirm a small plane made an emergency landing near Volpi Ysabel Road in Paso Robles at about 4:15 p.m..  The plane according to the FAA is a Hummel H5 Fixed Wing Single-Engine plane registered to a David Dickey from Pismo Beach.

“The pilot reported the plane’s engine lost power and he had to glide the plane down and make an emergency landing,” the Sheriff’s Department reports. Except for a few scrapes the pilot was not hurt. Dickey was the only person in the plane.

The Sheriff’s Office is securing the scene. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are sending representatives to investigate the crash.

KCOY’s reports that Dickey who said he was flying from Paso Robles to San Luis Obispo when he lost power in his engine.  Unable to get the engine running, he made an emergency landing in a riverbed, KCOY reports.
