Police to increase traffic enforcement in back-to-school campaign
–The Paso Robles Police Department will be starting off the school year with maximum traffic enforcement and awareness efforts within city school zones. Beginning Thursday, Aug. 20, motorists are reminded to use additional caution when driving in or near school zones within the city of Paso Robles.
The new school year brings traffic congestion in school zones and surrounding areas. Parents are encouraged to teach their children to cross roadways at a corner, preferably at crossing guard locations, not mid-block or from between parked vehicles. Police officers will be deployed throughout the city’s school zones to help ensure student safety and reduce traffic congestion.
The police will strictly enforce school zone related traffic violations such as: seat belt violations, cell phone use, flashing school bus light violations, speed violations and parking violations. Officers will also be monitoring pedestrian and bicycle traffic for violations. Enforcement efforts are designed to remind motorists that school is back in session and traffic safety is a priority. Depending upon the severity of the traffic violation, officers may issue warnings or citations.
