Poll shows Achadjian in lead for congressional race
Helene Schneider, Salud Carbajal tie as next closest candidates
–In a telephone poll conducted in January by Moore Information, Inc. of 405 likely primary voters, Republican Assembly Member and congressional candidate Katcho Achadjian, R-Arroyo Grande, was found to be the leading candidate in the race for the 24th Congressional District.
When asked if the primary election were tomorrow, 20-percent of voters responded they would vote for Katcho, with the next closest candidates being Democratic Mayor Helene Schneider and Democratic Supervisor Salud Carbajal, neck-and-neck at 12-percent, and all other candidates with 7-percent or less.
Prior to his election to the Assembly, Katcho served for three terms on the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors.
The 24th Congressional District encompasses Santa Barbara County, San Luis Obispo County, and part of Ventura County.
Also running for the seat: Democrat Santa Barbara Mayor Helene Schneider, Republican Matt Kokkonen, Republican Justin Fareed, Democrat Salud Carbajal, and Democrat William Ostrander, and Republican Tyler Gross.
