Poll workers needed for June 3 election

Local organizations can earn up to $525 by adopting poll

poll workersThe San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder’s office is looking for poll workers and Adopt-a-Poll groups for the June 3, 2013 Primary Election. San Luis Obispo County employs approximately 1,000 precinct workers each election to work at the polls on Election Day. Poll workers must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, and a registered voter in California or a or lawful permanent resident of the United States.

Traditionally, it is a challenge to fill poll worker assignments during the June election because of activities related to the end of the school year and vacations. This year is no exception. There are also ten additional precincts to staff this election due to population growth in certain areas of the county.

Adopt-a-Polls are great fundraisers for service clubs, church groups, and non-profit organizations where these groups utilize their members to fill the poll worker slots at a precinct, which can be performed in shifts. An organization can earn from $448-$525 for working on Election Day and attending the precinct worker training sessions.

Be a part of democracy and assist voters at the polls on Election Day. For more information, please contact the San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder’s office via email at precinctworker@co.slo.ca.us or call (805) 781-4106.
