Portions of Highway 46 East set for resurfacing and striping

Traffic lanes minimized along Estrella River bridges starting May 22

Caltrans 009Caltrans announced a traffic switch on Highway 46 East at the Estrella River Bridges that will result in motorists using one lane in each direction beginning Thursday, May 22 at 10 p.m. This temporary configuration will allow for the completion of the final resurfacing and striping on this segment of the newly-constructed highway.

All lanes of Hwy. 46 on the Estrella River Bridges are expected to be open to full two-way traffic in June. A ribbon cutting ceremony took place on Wednesday afternoon signaling the completion of the newly-constructed bridges near Whitley Gardens, just outside of the Paso Robles city limits.

The project is part of the widening of a five-mile section of the highway from two to four lanes from Geneseo Road to Almond Drive. Contractor for the $47 million project is Papich Construction out of Pismo Beach; final completion of the widening project is expected in the fall of this year.
