PRHS cheerleaders win awards at camp
Three cheerleaders win individual awards
–This summer, Paso Robles High School cheer coaches took 60 girls from frosh, JV, and varsity cheer to UC Santa Barbara to attend the Universal Cheerleading Association instructional camp. While at camp, the teams learned proper stunting skills and new dance routines that they can use at games and rallies.
The squads worked really hard all week and came back with quite a few awards. Each team brought home a spirit stick for demonstrating positive attitudes and having school spirit. Frosh cheer won third place and JV won fourth for their game day challenge. Varsity won an overall superior trophy and 3rd place for their game day timeout.
The “top banana” award is given to the overall best performing and most spirited team each day. It travels to a different team every day and is given to the best team on the last day to take home. PRHS cheer, as a whole, won that top award.
Individual awards were also won by the PRHS cheerleaders. A competition was held for “All-Americans” where cheerleaders from all schools attending camp compete against one another with jumps, dancing, and tumbling.
Three cheerleaders were named All-Americans:
- Angel Dalool (9th)
- Faith Alviso (10th)
- Codi Wilshusen (12th)
