Pronghorn Psychiatry Prescott Valley detox facility involved in hit TV program

Pronghorn Psychiatry, Prescott Valley’s Joint Commission Accredited detox center and psychiatric hospital, was recently involved in an episode of a hit, intervention-themed television program. In the episode, viewers meet, a 24-year-old Suboxone addict from the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Browning, Montana. After seeing her own mother use drugs following a painful divorce from her father, the patient experienced significant tragedy that spiraled into her current fight with addiction.

At 16, her boyfriend and father of the baby she was carrying was killed in a car accident. Two days later, she gave birth to their baby girl, who lives with her mother. Fourteen months ago, she gave
birth to a boy, who was addicted to Suboxone. Her aunt and uncle have custody and are applying to adopt the child formally. Prescott Valley detox facility

Following an intervention where she and her current boyfriend Brandon both agree to treatment, she flew to Prescott, to A Sober Way Home, where the team from Pronghorn assisted in the detox of the patient.

The episode concludes with the production crew’s follow-up with the patient, 60 days into treatment, when she’s reunited for the first time since the intervention with her mother and daughter.

“’This show was the first show of its kind to really educate viewers about addiction and the path that so many families follow seeking health and healing, so we were thrilled to be a part of it and the patient’s story of recovery,” says Pronghorn Psychiatry Medical Director Dr. Mark Collins. “It was especially meaningful for our team because this episode put a spotlight on abuse of a newer drug called Suboxone that is prescribed as an opiate replacement therapy, and the larger widespread issue of addiction among reservation populations – awareness is one of our greatest tools for helping families identify the signs of addiction and seek help.”

Pronghorn Psychiatry’s services include court ordered evaluations, detox, medical detox, psychiatric stabilization, alcohol detox, heroin detox, opiate detox, drug withdrawal treatment, alcohol detox, neuro psychiatry, and inpatient psych services.
