Pumpkin decorating contest deadline extended
Update Oct. 3, 2014: The Paso Robles Library is extending the deadline for folks to submit pumpkins for the PumpkinPalooza contest from Monday, October 6 to Tuesday, October 14.
Original story: Move over Jack, the Paso Robles Library is hosting the first annual pumpkin decorating contest featuring creations by the area’s most creative crafters. Children and adults are invited to decorate a pumpkin with one of four categories in mind: a favorite book, funniest, spookiest, and in celebration of Paso Robles’ 125th anniversary, a Paso Robles history themed pumpkin.
Crafters are asked to bring their creation to the library between Sept. 29 and Oct. 6 for display during the month of October. Library patrons will be invited to vote for their favorites in all categories and age groups, with winners announced during the week of Halloween. Craft or artificial pumpkins only please. For official contest rules, visit www.prcity.com/library.
“Pumpkins are a signature symbol of the fall season, and what better way to celebrate than with a pumpkin party at the library,” said Heather Stephenson, Children’s Services Librarian at the Paso Robles City Library. “We look forward to seeing all of the creative ideas brought to life on the canvas of our favorite orange squash.”
The Paso Robles City Library is located at 1000 Spring Street and is open Monday – Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information on library programs and events, call the library at (805) 237-3870.
