Quilts on Display in June at City Library

June Art Display at the Paso Robles City Library

Screen Shot 2013-05-27 at 4.35.59 PMThe Paso Robles City Library invites the public to enjoy local quilter and June’s featured artist Maureen Handshy. Finding great satisfaction in assembling fragmented pieces to see a pattern emerge, the patterns she chooses must have something that will keep her interested over a prolonged period of time.

Quilting has become Handshy’s medium and she likes to work with 100% cotton fabrics in vibrant colors. “A lot of my pieces go to friends and family and there’s no greater thrill than to surprise a loved one with a quilt that they weren’t expecting.” Currently, Handshy juggles three art passions—she cooks at a bed and breakfast in Cayucos, decorates their lobby with her floral arrangements, and then goes home to work on her quilts. She enthuses, “Life is sweet!”

The Paso Robles City Library is located at 1000 Spring Street and is open Monday – Friday 10-8, and Saturday 10-5. For more information on library programs and events, please call 237-3870 or visit www.prcity.com/library.
