The Ravine Waterpark premiers new mud run and music festival

New event set for Sept. 14

The Ravine Waterpark in Paso Robles opened registration this month for its first ever Mud & Music Fest. The new family-friendly event is set to take place at the park on Sept. 14 starting at 7 a.m. Event organizers Brett Butterfield, J Walsh and Michael Marquez are excited to bring a new and fun event for the whole family with a variety of entertainment and attractions. Runners and their families will come from far and wide to participate in the 5K mud run.

“The race will be on a military-style obstacle course with between 12 and 15 physical challenges placed in the park and on 15 surrounding acres,” says Butterfield. Obstacles include running against the current of the Lazy River, racing through the dry riverbed, hopping mud holes, crawling through mud obstacles, swinging on ropes and climbing rope ladders. Photographers will be on hand to capture the excitement.

“The day is family oriented, but the race itself is geared toward the adventurous and individuals looking for a great time,” says Marquez. “It will be very difficult!” Race registration is $80 and includes an all-day pass to the water park. A part of the proceeds benefit the Hearst Cancer Resource Center at French Hospital. Immediately after the race, at about 10 a.m., the water park opens to the public and the music festival begins. Six live bands will play rock and reggae, as well as music to entertain children.

“The Mud & Music Fest is going to be a entertaining day full of music, food, drink, and exercise for the whole family,” Walsh says. There will be free barbecue for race participants. Wine and Firestone Walker beer will be available to buy throughout the park.

Rosetta, the fastest growing interactive marketing agency in the United States is the event’s main sponsor. Others include KSBY, Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Young’s Market, Southern Wine and Spirits, Jordano’s and Creeky Tiki.
