Re/Max’s ‘Up With Kids’ benefits 100 young students
Re/Max Parkside Realtors provided more than 100 students with more than $100 each in school clothing, shoes, a backpack and school supplies at Target early Saturday morning. Each student also got a ride in a Re/Max hot air balloon.
This year for the first time, each student’s family received a bag of groceries.
Re/Max started the program called “Up With Kids” 14 years ago. Now, many other groups help. Agents with Re/Max donated $13,000 to buy clothing and school supplies for the students. The agents and other volunteers went with the students as “shoperones” to help them select clothing and supplies.
One student said, “This is the best day of my entire life.”
Elissa Williams said this year was their best event. She says the intent is to give disadvantaged students a leg-up on their return to school.
