Jury rules against Applied Technologies for employee termination

Mark Kenyon awarded $500,671 for wrongful termination

Kinman & Curry, a local law firm specializing in business and employment law since 1993, represented Mark Kenyon, who was recently awarded $500,671 by a Paso Robles jury for wrongful termination by his former employer Applied Technologies Associates Inc. Kenyon was a vice president with 28 years of experience at the time of his termination. Applied Technologies is one of Paso Robles’ largest business conglomerates with more than 1,400 employees world-wide.

The jury verdict was handed down on April 26, 2013, and the judgment was signed on May 24, 2013, Barry Kinman reports.

The jury trial lasted three weeks. The jury rejected Applied Technologies’ defense that Kenyon was properly and lawfully terminated. All 12 jurors agreed to the amount of damages. The verdict is one of, if not, the largest wrongful termination awards in San Luis Obispo County history. Kenyon was ably represented by trial attorney Barry Kinman. Applied Technologies was represented by Mollie Burks-Thomas of the Los Angeles firm of Gordon & Rees.
