Ribbon cutting ceremony slated for Los Osos Valley Road Traffic Relief Project

LOVR San Luis Obispo

Project is near completion, ahead of schedule

–The City of San Luis Obispo will hold a special ribbon cutting ceremony for the Los Osos Valley Road Traffic Relief Project, celebrating the near completion of the project, on Tuesday, March 29, from 10-11 a.m. at the Hampton Inn & Suites Parking Lot located at 1530 Calle Joaquin in San Luis Obispo.

Mayor Jan Marx, elected officials, Caltrans and San Luis Obispo Council of Governments representatives, project supporters, law enforcement, the media, and interested community members will be in attendance.

After 17 months, the enhancements to the Los Osos Valley Road/U.S. 101 interchange in San Luis Obispo are ready to be revealed. This project was a collaborative effort between the City, SLOCOG, and Caltrans; aimed to make the roadway a safer and more efficient place for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. The new interchange bridge, additional traffic lanes, and widened bike lanes ease vehicle congestion and simplify transit through the Los Osos Valley Road / U.S. 101 corridor.

The project finished two months ahead of schedule and is expected to be under the $24 million budget. The City of San Luis Obispo was the lead agency on the project with the construction oversight provided by Caltrans.
