A project to realign the southbound off-ramp of US Highway 101 at State Route 58 will begin on Monday, May 11 at 5 a.m., Caltrans reports.

This realignment project will also include a legal left-turn option for motorists wishing to reach Spanish Oaks Road, Caltrans said.

Motorists will encounter the following lane/ramp closures:

• The US Highway 101 southbound off-ramp will be closed 24/7 beginning Monday, May 11 at 5 a.m. through Friday evening, May 15. Motorists will detour by using Santa Barbara Road to El Camino Real to reach Santa Margarita.
• There will be intermittent southbound on/off ramp/lane closures on US Highway 101 at State Route 58 during the overnight hours beginning Sunday, May 17 through Friday, May 22 from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. and on Sunday evenings from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. Monday morning.
• There will be intermittent southbound ramp/lane closures Sunday, May 17 through Friday, May 22 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Electronic message boards will advise motorists about this road work. Motorists can expect a delay not to exceed 15 minutes, Caltrans said.

Caltrans said that the contractor for this $277,000 project is Souza Construction, Inc. of San Luis Obispo, and that this project is expected to be completed this summer.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
