Robert Hickey dies of accidental gun shot, investigators say 

Evidence shows Hickey’s rifle accidentally discharged as he was placing it in a utility vehicle

Update: On 3-6-13, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call of a man found dead from an apparent gunshot wound. The man was identified as 48-year-old Robert Stark Hickey of Templeton. An autopsy was recently completed. The investigation has revealed that Hickey died from a single gunshot wound to the body. Hickey was home alone at the time of his death and was later discovered by a family member. Although the accident was not witnessed, forensic evidence at the scene and autopsy results determined the incident was the result of an accidental discharge of a rifle by Hickey as he was placing the weapon into a ranch utility vehicle.

Robert Stark Hickey died of accident, investigators say

March 6, 2013 – The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a man with an apparent gunshot wound at the 2800 block of Cloudy Meadow Road in rural Templeton, CA.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to the 911 call with patrol deputies, detectives, coroner investigators, and a forensic specialist. Through the course of the investigation the man was identified as the home owner, Robert Stark Hickey, 48 years of age. Although the investigation is continuing, the preliminary findings indicate that Hickey’s death was the result of an accident. An autopsy is scheduled for next Thursday. No further information is available at this time.
