San Miguel celebrates Sagebrush Days
Thousands join festivities at Sagebrush Days Parade and Peddlers Fair
Thousands of people packed downtown San Miguel Saturday for the 23rd annual Sagebrush Days Parade and Peddlers Fair.
Nearly 30 parade entrants pleased the crowds and braved a brisk breeze blowing south through the Salinas Valley. The parade marched down Mission Street, then turned near the San Miguel Mission and traveled north for a second pass.
San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Frank Mecham and his assistant, Vicki Shelby, announced names of participants in the parade. “Sagebrush Days reminds me of everything I love about the North County,” Mecham said.
Members of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Posse, the Native Daughters of the Golden West, the Lions Club and Lillian Larsen Hornets joined parade entrants from throughout the North County.
In addition to the parade, the organizers planned festivities from 8 am to 3 p.m. including a flea market with local crafts, a Lions Club Rib and Tri-Tip BBQ, an apple pie contest, salsa contest and tastings, Chicken Patty Bingo, a Quick Draw at High Noon, hit ’n miss antique engines, and dutch-oven chili tastings.
The 23rd annual Sagebrush Days Parade and Peddlers Fair was organized by the San Miguel Chamber of Commerce.
