Sunset SAVOR the Central Coast, a partnership with Sunset Magazine and Visit San Luis Obispo County, donated the event’s farm to the school garden at Paso Robles Joint Unified School District’s Georgia Brown Elementary at 525 36th Street.

The students, staff and families of Georgia Brown Elementary School were on hand to receive the garden on Wednesday. They celebrated the donation with guests from the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District and the Sunset SAVOR the Central Coast team.

The farm to school garden was prepared by One Cool Earth, a local non-profit based in San Luis Obispo. The garden beds and supplies were donated by Farm Supply and include Swiss chard, red romaine, fig trees, olive trees, edible flowers, cabbage, kale, strawberries, and a selection of herbs.

The farm to school garden will become part of the on-going educational program championed by Gregg Wangard, corporate chef and creative culinary director for Boutique Hotel Collection, for students to learn about growing and eating fresh, local produce. SAVOR offered a special thank you to Golden State Overnight for delivery of the garden.
