September is National Library Card Sign-up Month
September is National Library Card Sign-up Month — a time when libraries across the country remind parents that a library card is the most important school supply.
This year, Stan Lee, comic book legend and co-creator of Spider-Man, the Hulk, X-men, Iron Man and the Fantastic Four, will serve as Honorary Chair of the national campaign.
Studies have shown that children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better in school and are more likely to continue to use the library as a source of lifetime learning. This national effort also targets adults who may not have used a library in years and who may not realize a card doesn’t just mean access to books—it also means free access to DVDs, music CDs, and the Internet.
The Paso Robles City Library is located at 1000 Spring Street and is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.. For more information on library programs and events, please call 237-3870 or visit www.prcity.com/library.
