Suspect arrested in Shell gas station robbery 

Fingerprints lead police to robbery suspect

On Thursday, September 5, 2013, at about 12:30 p.m., Azar Moore, 34, of Paso Robles, was arrested in Santa Maria related to a September 2, 2013 robbery of the Shell gas station at 1244 24th Street, Paso Robles CA.

Police detectives were able to identify Moore by analyzing fingerprints obtained from the gas station immediately after the robbery. PRPD detectives tracked Moore to Santa Maria, CA and requested Santa Maria Police Department’s assistance with taking Moore into custody.

Police detectives subsequently transported Moore back to Paso Robles and he will be booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on Felony Armed Robbery charges.

On Monday, September 2, 2013, at about 4:30 p.m., the Paso Robles Police Department received a 911 telephone call reporting a robbery that just occurred at the Shell gas station, 1244 24th Street. The store clerk told officers that a black male adult, 6’00” tall, in his mid-30’s entered the store and demanded money, telling the clerk he had a gun.

The clerk complied with the suspects request and turned over money from the cash register. The suspect fled the store on foot and was never located by officers. The clerk said the suspect was wearing a camouflage shirt, jeans, white tennis shoes, and sunglasses. Surveillance images of the suspect are included on page two of this release.

The Paso Robles Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance with solving this crime.
