Update: Local man dies as a result of motorcycle accident

–Glenn Paul McMahon, a 65-year-old resident from Atascadero, has died as a result of the injuries that he sustained in a motorcycle collision that occurred earlier this month, according to California Highway Patrol.

On July 10, at approximately 1 p.m., CHP was dispatched to the scene of a traffic collision that occurred on Highway 1, 100 feet north of Pico Avenue. The collision involved six motorcycles that crashed while trying to avoid a car that was slowing down in front of the motorcycles. The car was traveling in the same direction as the motorcycles, directly in front of them.

McMahon died at 2 a.m. on July 18, 2016, at Sierra Vista Hospital.

This collision is still currently under investigation by the Templeton CHP Office.

Two North County residents seriously injured

–Six motorcycles crashed on Highway 1 in San Simeon on Sunday afternoon after a group of motorcyclists failed to notice a car preparing to run left, according to California Highway Patrol. Two North County residents were seriously injured as a result of the collision.

On Sunday at approximately 1 p.m., a group of 15 motorcycles were traveling South on Highway 1 in San Simeon near Pico Avenue. A car was traveling ahead of the group of motorcyclists and indicated that it was going to make a left hand turn. The motorcyclists reportedly did not notice the car’s turn signal or brake lights, and swerved on either side of the car; six motorcyclists lost control and crashed, according to CHP.

Involved parties were: 65-year-old Glenn Paul McMahon of Atascadero, who sustained rib fractures, a bruised lung and bleeding on the brain; 53-year-old Kathleen McMahon of Atascadero, who sustained a punctured right lung, broken ribs and abrasions on both arms; 51-year-old Matthew Brian Sumner of Atascadero, who reported pain in his leg; 47-year-old Micheal Patrick Leland of Templeton who sustained abrasions to his knee, elbow and back; and 41-year-old Gustavo Hurtato of Paso Robles and 54-year-old Jim Preston Restine, who were uninjured.
