SLO County College Night is Oct. 31

San Luis Obispo County College Night is set for Monday, Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. at the Cuesta College San Luis Obispo Campus on Highway 1. The event is being organized in collaboration with the college night host, Cuesta College, the SLO County Office of Education and The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County.college night

“The purpose of the California College Night is to provide California high school students, parents, and counselors with information and guidance concerning California higher education opportunities” said Dan Peverini, Executive Director of the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education.

Over 650 students, their parents and counselors will have the opportunity meet and talk with more than 60 representatives from colleges and universities throughout California and the nation.

College night offers local high school students the opportunity not only to learn about colleges and universities located both within California and across the country, but also to find the resources needed to make an informed decision about which college to attend. A number of workshops will also be held on various topics, from how to create a powerful application, to athletic recruiting, to new financial aid procedures and essay writing.

Concurrent workshops will be held in Cuesta’s Cultural and Performing Arts Center and in the Humanities Building beginning at 5 p.m. College representatives are available from 5:30 until 8 p.m. in the Associated Students Center.

Free bus service is available to students and parents through SLORTA, with student ID. Organizers recommend that students and parents read the FAQs and print a map of the event site to help plan the evening in order to allow time to visit with representatives and to attend workshops: College Night FAQ’s.

College night is sponsored by the Harold J. Miossi Trust.
