Smoke from Canyon Fire impacts county air quality

–Smoke from the Canyon Fire burning near Vandenberg Air Force Base has been impacting skies in San Luis Obispo County. On Monday, Cal Fire reported, “There is a lot of drift smoke in the county from the Canyon Fire.” Air quality varied from city to city within the county.

Reports say the Canyon Fire at Vandenberg Air Force Base has grown to 6,000 acres as of Monday night. Containment is at 6-percent. To view a current map of fire activity, click here.

Today’s air quality forecast predicts moderate air pollution levels for North County, whereas the 5 cities, San Luis Obispo, and North Coast areas are forecasted to have levels classified as “good,” according to slocleanair.org.

Warm temperatures are expected all week, with a brief cooling period happening Thursday and Friday. Tuesday’s high is expected to be 93, and temperatures are expected to reach the 90s again by the weekend, according to Weather Underground.
