Taste four of Paso Robles’ finest petite sirah wines

Wine Tasting in Paso RoblesFour local wineries have joined together to present a special Petite Sirah Winemakers’ Dinner featuring organic farm-to-table fare paired with some of Paso Robles’ finest Petite Sirahs. The participating wineries are Vina Robles, Parrish Family Vineyards, Robert Hall Winery, and Opolo Vineyards.

This Petite Sirah pairing experience provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy limited production and library Petite Sirahs. Meet the winemakers and learn firsthand about the magic behind the tiny yet powerful Petite Sirah grape. Dinner will be served on the outdoor patio accompanied by live music by guitarist-singer Mike Swan.

The event is this Saturday, April 13, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thomas Hill Organics

First Course

Beef Carpaccio with Toasted Hazelnuts, Porcini Mushrooms, Arugula

Parrish Family 2011 Petite Sirah
A vibrant Petite Sirah with fresh notes of plum on the nose with hints of vanilla and clove. The palate opens to luscious blackberry with earthiness in the mid palate and a lingering finish of raspberry.


Second Course

Braised Pork Cheeks, Parsnip Puree, Petite Sirah Compound Butter, Crispy Leeks

Vina Robles 2008 Petite Sirah, Creston Valley Vineyards
Garnet in color with aromas of fresh red fruit, raspberry and sweet, and toasty oak. A medium-bodied, elegant Petite Sirah with a round mouth feel and lingering, chalky tannins on the finish.


Third Course

Koko’s Cheese with Black-Pepper Shortbread, Currant Jelly

Robert Hall 2006 Petite Sirah, Brady Vineyard
Crafted entirely from the “Brady Vineyard” located on the first rolling river terrace above the south bank of the Estrella River, this wine has bold aromas of blueberry, dark cherry and blackberry.


Fourth Course

Olive Oil Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting and Blueberry Compote

Opolo 2010 Petite Sirah
A big and bold Petite Sirah with rich flavors of black plum and boysenberry, complemented by black pepper and mint. Deep bodied, the richly rounded palette leads into an intensely long finish.
