The City of Atascadero announced today it is offering the Start Smart Basketball Program for children ages three to six. The Start Smart program teaches young children the basic motor skills needed to play organized sports without the threat of competition, while they work one-on-one and spend quality time with their parents.

Registrations are now being accepted at the Colony Park Community Center on Traffic Way in Atascadero. Space is limited, and registration ends Oct. 3. The cost for each child to participate is $50 and includes a t-shirt. The Start Smart Basketball Program begins Oct. 7.

Start Smart classes are held once a week for 6 weeks, with each week becoming increasingly more difficult as the class progresses and the children show improvement. This program helps kids and parents have a positive sports experience together!
