Police believe that suspect was wearing a mask and holding a gun during gas station robbery

–Deputies from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 24-year-old Matthew Edward Martinez of Nipomo for what they believe is his involvement in a robbery of a Chevron Gas Station in Nipomo in November.

As part of their investigation, sheriff’s detectives received information that the suspect in that incident was staying at his parent’s house in Ventura County.

With the assistance of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, deputies on Dec. 29 located the suspect at a residence in the 400 block of Old Grade Road in Oak View, Calif. Deputies arrested 24-year-old Matthew Edward Martinez of Nipomo. He was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of armed robbery with an enhancement of using a firearm.

It’s believed that Martinez was the suspect wearing the mask and holding the gun when he robbed the Chevron gas station of money, cigarettes and lottery scratchers. Detectives had already arrested 19-year-old Reed Hoffman on Dec. 7 at his residence in the 300 block of South Oak Glen Avenue in Nipomo for his involvement in the armed robbery.
