SWAT team will train at Paso Robles High School on Wednesday

  • Don’t be alarmed: Expect to see several officers
  • Look up: CHP helicopter to fly in the area
  • Stay away: Training is closed to the public

On Wednesday, August 14, 2013 the San Luis Obispo Regional SWAT team will conduct a training exercise at the Paso Robles High School from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The California Highway Patrol air operations unit will be involved in this exercise as well, so residents in the area should expect to see the CHP helicopter flying in the area of the high school.

This training will take place with the assistance of school employees and all the training will occur on the campus. The training is closed to the public and non-involved persons should stay away from the training areas for their safety.

The training is to educate the faculty of actions that will occur if the SWAT team ever has to deploy to the school. The training is an important component in the security and safety of this community and bonds the involved public safety agencies into one cohesive unit in times of emergency. The San Luis Obispo Regional SWAT team is comprised of police officers and command staff from the following police departments: Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach, and Cal Poly.
