Tackitt Family Vineyards event raises over $32,000 for wounded vets
Yearly event raises funds for Explosive Ordnance Disposal Warrior Foundation
–Tackitt Family Vineyards, located in San Miguel, opened its doors to the public for a great cause with their fifth annual Warriors Helping Warriors event. This event offers participants the unique opportunity to learn about the wine making and bottling process first hand, while enjoying live music, brick oven pizzas, wine tasting, and more. Most importantly, attendees are supporting veterans because the event benefits the Explosive Ordnance Disposal, or EOD Warrior Foundation.
Tackitt Family Vineyards produces special labels of wine to support the EOD Warrior Foundation, a non-profit organization that dedicates their efforts to helping Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technicians from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force returning from combat with disabilities from loss of limbs to post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as the families of fallen EOD warriors. The specialty wine label is called EOD Cellars and proceeds from every bottle sold, is donated back to the EOD Warrior Foundation.

“This event was a huge success, raising $32,742 that we were able to donate to the EOD Warrior Foundation,” explains Leon Tackitt, owner of Tackitt Family Vineyards. “We are thrilled to play a part in helping our veterans who have sacrificed so much for our continued safety and freedom, and want to continue playing an active role by selling EOD Cellars specialty wines.”
Participants at the EOD Warrior Foundation event at Tackitt Family Vineyards personally helped bottle the latest release of EOD Cellars’ Basic Blaster Red and 100 percent of tickets purchased went directly to the EOD Warrior Foundation.
“We are humbled by the outpouring of support that we have received,” says Nicole Motsek, executive director of the EOD Warrior Foundation. “We are grateful for Tackitt Family Vineyards helping us achieve such a goal, and thankful to all the participants who not only bought tickets, but helped bottle the wine that will continue to help support the Foundation. With these donations, we can make a tremendous impact on the lives of EOD families around the world.”
