TCSD Directors adopt the 2014-15 budget

Templeton adopts 2014-15 budget, a trash rate increase, and conservation outreach services
A solid waste rate increase, the 2014-15 Budget, and an agreement with the local Resource Conservation District were all approved by the Templeton Community Services District (TCSD) Board of Directors on Tuesday night.
The approximately 3.5 percent solid waste rate increase adopted by the Board is consistent with the franchise agreement approved in 2012 between TCSD and Mid State Solid Waste & Recycling.
The increase reflects a request for a CPI (Consumer Price Index) increase and a pass through of an increase in Chicago Grade Landfill tipping fees. This is the first time since the inception of the 2012 franchise agreement that Mid-State has requested a CPI increase.
Residential customers will see a rate increase of between $0.82 and $1.34 per month depending on refuse container size. Commercial customer rates will increase between $0.83 to $31.95 per month depending on the size of the container and the frequency of pick up.
The 2014-15 Budget was adopted as presented. It reflects input from two Finance and Personnel Committee meetings during budget formation and a lengthy Board of Directors Budget Workshop on June 3rd. All three meetings were open to the public.
The Budget can be reviewed online (download the “June 17 Board Packet – Operating Budget FY 2014-15”). The General Manager’s Transmittal Letter (page 3-10) gives an executive summary of the budget – its strengths and weaknesses, as well as changes that were made and why.
The Board also approved an agreement with the Upper Salinas – Las Tablas Resource Conservation District (US-LT RCD) in the amount of $11,325 for various community outreach services to support water and resource conservation, storm water quality, and recycling events.
