Templeton celebrates Old-Fashioned Christmas

The Templeton Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating an old-fashioned Christmas in downtown Templeton on December 7 from 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm.  The festivities start with the Christmas tree lighting in Templeton Park.

Immediately following is the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Templeton Fire Department.  They will climb aboard their sleigh (which strongly resembles one of the fire trucks) and ride to the Women’s Center to find out what’s on your Christmas list.  Kids and adults alike can have their picture taken with Santa all evening.  PJ Sawyer, John Patrick Images, will be our photographer.

The downtown businesses will be aglow with the spirit of the season, welcoming everyone with their own special treats, hot apple cider, tea or even some bubbly, while showcasing their holiday shopping. Start your shopping early in Templeton and save your receipts for the Templeton “Christmas Shopping Receipt Scavenger Hunt”.  Don’t forget to bring  your receipts by 6:00 pm to Helping Hands Health Education at 98 Main Street.  Prizes will be awarded in several categories including rewarding the person who has the most receipts.

Matt’s Music will once again decorate the enormous pine tree in front of the store with a myriad of instruments.  Main Street Dance will be performing in the parking lot in front of Helping Hands Health Education.  The Templeton Presbyterian Church Bell Choir will perform holiday favorites at 6:00 and 7:00 pm.  Members from Bethel Lutheran Church and other groups will be caroling on Main Street.   Kinship Center will be on hand for ornament decorating and writing letters to Santa at the Youth Sports Center.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office will have a table set up at the Sports Center for information on holiday safety.  Students from Vineyard Elementary School will showcase their art at many of the downtown businesses.  You might even be able to catch a glimpse of Rudolph in front of the Templeton Presbyterian Church!  Be sure to stop by the new Templeton Chamber of Commerce office at 524 S. Main Street for holiday treats and good cheer!

The Templeton Chamber of Commerce and the downtown businesses will truly take you back to the good old days.  Bring flashlights, coats and kids and kick off the holiday season with family and friends in Templeton.  Visit the Templeton Chamber website for more information at www.templeonchamber.com.
