Templeton names Firefighter of the Year 

Awards recognize team players, respect, constant self improvement

–Firefighter Daniel Burgess was recognized as the 2015 Firefighter of the Year at the Templeton Firefighters Annual Recognition Dinner held on Saturday, Jan. 30.

The Firefighter of the Year is selected by his/her peers on the following criteria: Being a team player, making the department a better place, the respect of their peers, constantly improving themselves, involvement in extracurricular projects, and routinely responding to emergency service calls.

Fire Chief White stated that he is “very proud of the accomplishments that firefighter Burgess has made over the last 16 month period with the department.”

Burgess’ accomplishments include:

  • Perfect attendance record at all training drills
  • Certification 1-A to be a driver operator
  • Templeton Firefighter Association – Muscular Dystrophy “Fill a Boot Campaign”
  • Participation in the 2015 controlled burn fire trainings held at Hunter Liggett, Camp Roberts, the Firefighter Symposium in Fresno, and the Templeton Fire Department’s Live Fire Training Exercise in 2016.

 

“Daniel has made a difference in our organization and community. His dedication to the department, work ethic coupled with his desire to be the best, makes him a great firefighter,” said White.

Burgess is a graduate of Paso Robles High School and from the State Fire Marshal’s academy in Monterey. It is his desire to pursue a full time career in the fire and emergency services industry and to attend Paramedic School in the near future.
