Last Tuesday night, Aug 5, Haustin Morrison was sworn in as Templeton’s newest Firefighter in front of those assembled at the Templeton Community Services District (TCSD) Board of Directors meeting. Hauston was born and raised on the Central Coast and grew up on his family’s cattle ranch east of Creston. He graduated from North County Christian School in 2011, obtained a degree in Biology from the University of Wyoming, and earned his EMT certification.

He went on to complete the San Luis Obispo County Paid Call Firefighter Academy in March 2014 and has been accepted into the Allan Hancock Firefighter 1 Academy in Lompoc.

Haustin has been with Templeton Fire since January of this year and according to Captain Brandon Wall has shown both his commitment and training through numerous actions over the last several months.

“With Hauston’s continued commitment and strong work ethic, he will excel with the Templeton Fire Department and the Fire Service,” said Wall. “He attributes his success to his parents who have supported him throughout this chosen career path.”

“As all of us here tonight who work and volunteer for the Templeton Fire Department will attest, dedication to the service and strong family support are some of the most critical components of a successful fire career.”

Wall did the honors on behalf of Templeton’s part-time, Interim Fire Chief Keith Aggson who was on assignment as leader of a Strike Team from the Atascadero Fire Department. His team was in Northern California fighting the Eiler Fire.

“This is the dynamics of the fire service,” said Wall who proffered Aggson’s apologies for being unable to attend. “One day you’re in quarters and the next in Northern California on assignment.”
