Third Annual Templeton Music Festival is May 19

Third Annual Templeton Music Festival is May 19The Rotary Club of Templeton presents their Third Annual Templeton Music Festival on Sunday, May 19 at 3 p.m. Rotary is a service organization, and this signature event is a fun and entertaining sing-off held at the Templeton Performing Arts Center, hosted by radio personality and entertainer, Chad Stevens. It will feature San Luis Obispo County’s finest vocal talent. The afternoon starts off with an impressive eight-member Trumpet Alliance accompanying all of the participants and audience members (hundreds of voices) singing The National Anthem, led by guest “conductor” Fifth District San Luis Obispo County Supervisor, Debbie Arnold.

This year’s theme is SLO Sings! Much like American Idol, the audience will choose the winners in each of three competing categories:

ACADEMIC – Morro Bay High School (2012 TRMF Academic winner) will face That’s the Key (Cal Poly’s premier a cappella ensemble) and the renowned Atascadero High School Show Choir. This is quite a match-up and sure to entertain!

COMMUNITY – Central Coast Celebration Chorus (2012 Audience Choice winner) will go head-to-head with the Central Coast Choir (2011 TRMF Best Community Choir winner).

ENSEMBLES – Recording artists Teale & Tara Twisselman will team up and compete against La Bella Trio, 2012 favorite small ensemble. Add to the mix Athena Sorensen, a fabulous vocal artist and you have a young, fresh, and exciting gathering of song -and dance- sure to wow the listeners!

Proceeds from the event will support vocal arts in our community and provide much-needed funding for local school music programs. First-place winners in each category receive $500; second place $300; and third place receives $200. Tickets are $10 and available from Templeton Rotarians, Templeton Feed & Grain and online through PayPal. There is something for everyone who enjoys music!
