Thousands fill Vine St. for Christmas showcase

A sea of thousands of locals and visitors filled Vine Street in downtown Paso Robles for the 27th Annual Vine Street Victorian Christmas Showcase on Saturday evening, Dec. 14

A short parade kicked off the evening at about 6 p.m. It was lead by the Paso Robles High School Bearcats marching band and a trolley car filled with local dignitaries including Mayor Duane Picanco, city councilmen and Norma Moye, executive director of the Downtown Main Street Association.

Located on historic Vine Street between 8th and 21st Streets in Paso Robles, the showcase featured homes beautifully decorated in the spirit of Christmas. There were people handing out popcorn, cookies, roasted chestnuts and hot apple cider, several stages with dancers and performers, bands playing live music and snow sledding. Many of the nearby businesses and residences welcomed guests inside for open houses. Ice sculptor David Faber carve a snowman from a 300 lb. block of ice.

Within the 13-block area all of the homes, offices and schools were beautifully decorated and lit. The Grinch, bands, Scrooge, and the Snow King & Queen, and Santa Claus were special guests.
