car crashDriver was not wearing seatbelt, alcohol appears to be a factor, CHP says

–One person has died as a result of a traffic collision that occurred Thursday evening, according to California Highway Patrol. The fatal victim has been identified as Thomas Eugene Ince (66 years old), a resident of Avenal, Ca.

On Thursday, at approximately 7:43 p.m. a single occupant vehicle was being driven northbound on Highway 41, north of Highway 46 and the Cholame “Y.” The vehicle was being driven at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle in a curve in the roadway.

The vehicle left the roadway, then collided with a sign and a dirt embankment which caused the vehicle to roll over onto its side. The driver, the solo occupant in the vehicle, sustained major injuries due to blunt force trauma. The driver was transported to, and later pronounced dead at Twin Cities Hospital in Templeton.

The driver was not wearing his seatbelt, and alcohol does appear to be a factor in this collision. This collision is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. No further details are available at this time.
